pass my grandmother/ mother/father/auntie's test
let me explain the last point. in my family, when relatives meet and my cousins brings his/her boyfriend/girlfriend, they get "interviewed" by my grandmother. scary process. unfortunate people had gone though this before. WARNING!! (heh...heh...heh) (evil laugh)
Fools say to themselves, "There is no God." They are all corrupt, and they have done terrible things; there is no one who does what is right.
The LORD looks down from heaven at human beings to see if there are any who are wise, any who worship him.
But they have all gone wrong; they are all equally bad. Not one of them does what is right, not a single one.
~~ Psalms 14: 1 - 3 ~~
An employee in the bill collection department of a large store gave me an insight into human nature. He told me that over and over he gets a similar response from customers who are delinquent in paying their bills. They argue, "I know you must have others who owe a lot more than I do. Get off my back, will you!"
The employee then told me, "They miss the point entirely. Sure, there are a lot of others who owe more. But somehow I have to tell them in a nice way, 'Look, what somebody else owes isn't the issue. Our records say that your account is overdue!'"
The tendency of sinful man has always been to shift attention from himself by pointing finger at others. Religious people excuse their inconsistencies by referring to the "pagans" around them. And the "pagans" try to sidestep the issue by talking about the hypocrisies of the religious. But God is not fooled by finger-pointers.
When someone else appears to be a greater sinner than we are, it's just an illusion. The sooner we realize that no one owes more to God than we do, the more likely we are to receive His free forgiveness. He extends His pardon only to those who humbly acknowledge that they are hopelessly in debt. -- MRD ll
My sin, Oh Lord, defies Your Word, it scorns Your holy name; I will not make excuse for wrong - Christ's blood is all I claim. --DJD
went 4 the maths olympiad... did factorisation. had to miss publications *sniff*. lol, the teacher is very funny. she says that our calculator is our "best friend". we had to do sums like:
3_1_4_0_92 insert the digits 5,6,7,8 (one in each space) to form a ten-digit number. how many of these numbers are divisible by 396?
brain wrecking right? some more, we are not allowed to use the calculator!! mati! thankfully there was a way out, like god does. he always does ain't it? :)
my cousin composed this poem which i'd like to share:
writing your own story
no matter what else you're doing, from cradle days through to the end, you are writing your life story; each day sees another page turned, penned
each month ends a thirty page chapter, each year means a end of a part, and never an act is misstated, not even a wish from the heart.
each day when you wake the book opens, reavealing a page clean and white, what thoughts & what words & what actions will cover its surface by night?
God leaves that to you, you are the writer, and never one word shall grow dim. 'til some day you write the word "finish", and give your life book back to Him.
nice poem eh? what it says is quite true. God remembers your every thought, action etc... He never misses out one. as God has given us free will, we tell our own story. it is also up to us whether we want to follow his will and go his way, ain't it? :)
S Rajaratnam did a lot for S'pore. he brought s'pore though the hard times and penned down the pledge. as an aspiring journalist, he inspired many journalists around S'pore. being an "ideas man", he helped S'pore to become a united nation. he was truly a great man.
happy thinking day to all guides :) today's thinking day( not 4 thinking, unfortunately) everything went smoothly in the ceremony, thankfully. i shall quote some famous comments:

God Exists A man went to a barbershop to have his hair and his beard cut as always. He started to have a good conversation with the barber who attended him. They talked about so many things and various subjects.
Suddenly, they touched the subject of God. The barber said: "Look man, I don't believe that God exists as you say so." "Why do you say that?" Asked the client. Well, it's so easy; you just have to go out in the street to realize that God does not exist. Oh, tell me, if God existed, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be no suffering or pain. I can't think of a God who permits all of these things." The client stopped for moment thinking but he didn't want to respond so as to prevent an argument.
The barber finished his job and the client went out of the shop. Just after he left the barbershop he saw a man in the street with a long hair and beard (it seems that it had been a long time since he had his cut and he looked so untidy). Then the client again entered the barber shop and he said to the barber: " know what? Barbers do not exist.""How come they don't exist?"-Asked the barber. "Well I am here and I am a barber." "No!" - the client exclaimed. "They don't exist because if they did there would be no people with long hair and beard like that man who walks in the street.""Ah, barbers do exist, what happens is that people do not come to me."
"Exactly!"- Affirmed the client. "That's the point. God does exist, what happens is people don't go to Him and do not look for Him that's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world." If you like it, send it to other people. If you think God does not exist, don't do it. =============================================================== "Truth that is not imparted, that is not lived, loses its life-giving power, its healing virtue. Its blessings can be retained only as they are shared." Ellen White ===============================================================
today was very busy. went out the whole day with the guides.
10 00: went to school. marching 11 30: lunch break 13 00: go to national stadium for girl guides thinking day rally 17 30: came back to school, go home. tiring man!!
this was the first time where the principal came to see us receive an award!! :)
this week's cell was a little different than the other weeks.
jackie talked about when is the right time to date, saying that the right thing that is done at the wrong time is wrong. i slightly disagree with one of the poingts he said. yes date at the right time, but shouldn't we date 4 a little bt of experience? you'll know better when u start a relationship next time right? it also depends on one's character and understanding of the opposite party, so i think. the topic was quite relevant to valentine's day no doubt.
today was kinda boring... spent my valentine's day with orchids. the orchid hybridnasation is sooooooooooooooo cool!!! we did orchid stem cloning today. science was never this fun :P
everybody was pretty nice today. our class chairman gave everybody chocolates. no roses though, who cares? our form teacher joked about going out today with friends and all, we kidd her back saying whether she was going out with her boyfriend (if she had one) she's single anyway. :P
i liked this thing that my father forwarded to me today (yet again) :)

UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE WEEK "which cousin? huh? baby?! what baby?!"
i liked something that my father e-mailed me just today. here it is.
By the altar
A minister passing through his church in the middle of the day, decided to pause by the altar and see who had come to pray. Just then the back door opened, a man came down the aisle. The minister frowned as he saw the man hadn't shaved in a while. His shirt was kind a shabby and his coat was worn and frayed, the man knelt, he bowed his head, Then rose and walked away. In the days that followed, each noontime came this chap, each time he knelt just for a moment, a lunch pail in his lap. Well, the minister's suspicions grew, with robbery a main fear. He decided to stop the man and ask him, "What are you doing here?" The old man said; he worked down the road. Lunch was half an hour. Lunchtime was his prayer time, For finding strength and power, "I stay only moments, because the factory is so far away; as I kneel here talking to the Lord, This is kind a what I say:
"I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN. DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO JESUS, THIS IS JIM CHECKING IN TODAY."
The minister feeling foolish, told Jim that was fine. He told the man he was welcome To come and pray just anytime. Time to go, Jim smiled, said "Thanks." He hurried to the door. The minister knelt at the altar; he'd never done it before. His cold heart melted, warmed with love, and met with Jesus there. As the tears flowed, in his heart, he repeated old Jim's prayer: "I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN. DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO JESUS, THIS IS ME CHECKING IN TODAY."
Past noon one day, the minister noticed that old Jim hadn't come. As more days passed without Jim, he began to worry some. At the factory, he asked about him, learning he was ill. The hospital staff was worried, but he'd given them a thrill. The week that Jim was with them, brought changes in the ward, His smiles, a joy contagious. Changed people were his reward. The head nurse couldn't understand why Jim was so glad, when no flowers, calls or cards came, Not a visitor he had. The minister stayed by his bed, He voiced the nurse's concern: No friends came to show they cared. He had nowhere to turn. Looking surprised, old Jim spoke up and with a winsome smile; "the nurse is wrong, she couldn't know, that in here all the while everyday at noon He's here, a dear friend of mine, you see, He sits right down, takes my hand, Leans over and says to me:
"I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU JIM, HOW HAPPY I HAVE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND THIS FRIENDSHIP, AND I TOOK AWAY YOUR SIN. ALWAYS LOVE TO HEAR YOU PRAY, I THINK ABOUT YOU EACH DAY, AND SO JIM, THIS IS JESUS CHECKING IN TODAY."
If this blesses you, pass it on, many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.
May God hold you in the palm of His hand and Angels watch over you. But for those of us who are already His, He not only holds us in the palm of His hand, but has engraved our names there, and we are continually in His sight (Isaiah 49:16)
If you aren't ashamed, Jesus said, " If you are ashamed of me," I will be ashamed of you before my Father." If you are not ashamed, pass this on. But only if you mean it. Yes, I do love God. He is my source of existence and Savior. He keeps me functioning each and everyday. Without Him, I will be nothing. Without him, I am nothing but with Him "I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me." (Phil 4:13)
This is too good not to share - SO THIS IS ME. JUST CHECKING IN
"I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU LORD, HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN, SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN. DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY, BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY. SO JESUS, THIS IS RACHEL CHECKING IN TODAY." this week was hectic HECTIC, i mean it. et cetra was finally out!!!!! yay!! after 5 months FINALLY!!!! anyway, i talk about the week. my mum only allows me to use the computer only on the weekends, so ya, there i go.

today i woke up with the song 'at the foot of the cross'. finally managed to tie to ponytails for guides in the morning without having problem. went for guides, seeing 2 kan cheong recruits wearing their guides uniform when they were only supposed to bring it. aiyoh... never listen 2 instructions. anyway, we did marching today for thinking day, and guess what, i blacked out, thanks to "it", couldn't help it anyway. surprisingly it was the first time i actually blacked out(arggh! record broken!!) it was a very weird feeling. i think this is related to the song i woke up with in the morning... we have to nail all our problems to the cross, despite circumstances, which i did not do. are well... tis tought me a lesson.

sorry guys for the grammer errors and punctuation... tis not pub anyway. :P
WORD OF THE WEEK: And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jeruselem there will be deliverance, as the LORD said, among the survivors whom the LORD calls. Joel 2:32
I'm staring out into the night,
Trying to hide the pain.
I'm going to the place where love
And feeling good don't ever cost a thing.
And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain.
Well I'm going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old,
So I'm going home.
Well I'm going home.
The miles are getting longer, it seems,
The closer I get to you.
I've not always been the best man or friend for you.
But your love, it makes true.
And I don't know why.
You always seem to give me another try.
Be careful what you wish for,
'Cause you just might get it all.
You just might get it all,
And then some you don't want.
Be careful what you wish for,
'Cause you just might get it all.
You just might get it all, yeah.
* bible verse of the week *
Hebrews 12:11
No discipline seems pleasent at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
