get in tune with my life
why, why does thou mockest me so? does thou take pleasure in mocking me? then why does thou call me a friend?
a friend to thee it seems not so. i treat thee with kindness, yet thou return hate and scorn. thou showth no form of consideration for my feelings. hath you no emotions, no grace, no tactfullness?
thou turnest into none but a monster, turning thy back on a 'friend'. it doth seems to me that thou considers me to be filthy rags, Jealousy doth consume your mind, clouded thy eyne from sensitivity. like Alzheimer's disease, thou hath forgotten thy madien's grace, and like a cataract in thy eyne, thou lost the vision of kindness.
thou annoy me so, thy constant pursuit of my torture, seems to please thee. however, thou showth everyone that ice-cold heart of yours that will soon be shattered by the hammer of loneliness.
one by one, friends of ye will slip away due to the way thou treat them. i'm not surprised, that very soon, thou will slip away into darkness and cry over thy actions.
therefore, i say 'adieu' my patience is spent and gone on thee so adieu, adieu, adieu...
never did mockers waste more idle breath. -a midsummer night's dream act 3 scene 2 line168
I read of a man who stood to speak At a funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone From the beginning... to the end. He noted that first came her date of birth And spoke the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all Was the dash between those years (1934 – 1998)
For that dash represents all the time That she spent alive on earth... And now only those who loved her Know what that little line is worth For it matters not, how we live and love And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard... Are there things you’d like to change? For you never know how much time is left, That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough To consider what is true and real, And always try to understand The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger, And shrew appreciation more And love the people in our lives Like we’ve never loved before. If we treat each other with respect . And more often wear a smile.
Remembering that this special dash, Might only last a little while,
So, when eulogy’s being read, With your life’s actions to rehash... Would you be proud of the things they say About how we spend our dash?
simple yet lovely poem. yet again, we are reminded on how short life is and that our actions and lives are a testimony to others. and the poem says the rest.
busy week with CAs and all. thinking day's coming and with all the singing practices for the rally, my sore throat just got worse. drinking a lot of water already and it ain't helping (rawr, now osmoregulation is flowing thru my head)
CNY this year was good:) yu sheng was the best!! the food is good too. i think i gained weight ><. some of the gen acts peeps and BB boys came over to my house for steamboat and celebrate me bro's b'day on sun night:) had a really good time. after that, i really wanna learn some jazz piano from sheryl, but gotta wait for after o's :(. this girl's gotta study already.
condolences to doraline's family about her deceased grandfather. and jie lizhen gave birth yesterday! congrats!(now can call uncle tommy and aunty lizhen... hehe)
v'day was usual for me, more chocs from friends(getting pimples already:( ) and spending the day with hw etc...( u can guess)
cell debate was fun despite my team losing by 2 marks. anyway, we won overall:D. i was rather brain dead then so i couldn't really focus. sleepy...zzZ went to dora granfather's wake despite tiredness.
found out that sec 4 cca stepdown is at the end of march(mixed feelings); realised that o's are 2-3 weeks earlier than the earlier batch; chinese in 4 months time(lao shi doing 2 compoes every week)
school's ok, caught up with friends; cutting down comittments (already); new, horrible, high frequency, physics teacher; trying to take life one day at a time; changes; growing:)
CNY's coming:) that will form an equation: CNY = $$$ + new clothes + new shoes + some time off + reluctance to meet relatives (ironically)+ growing fat + bak gua + cousin time out away from adults + sping cleaning + younger cousins, nephews and nieces messing up my room (as always) + steamboat preparation (& eating) + study for CAs :(
youth alpha was ok so far. the debate was a lil boring: motion too wide therefore out of point; on the basis that God exists. no friends came:( my friends wanted to come and see me debate but all cannot :P too bad guys, u missed me being 'siong'. muahahaha.
homework pile seems to never cease to be approx five tasks a day. kiasu teachers are pressurising us just 'cause we're best class. i could nearly hear all the subjects teacher say that famous quote: ' all of you must do as well or better than the 2006 batch.' oh, n ariel transffered to my class:D
new laptop in place of the ancient, crashed, destop. facebook's getting boring, dun have much time on the com anyway... finished the bible for the second time:) started from genesis again. and yes, the bible is NOT boring.
going to reduce quite a bit of commitments. no piano lessons for 6 months, girl guides stop at the end of march, keyboard in cell once a month then subsequently gone, guitar callous will be softer:( reduce photographic studies, less and subsequently no going out, no ice skating (my only excercise will probably be during PE, quite a number of crunches at home, praising the Lord on sun, and, running after the bus:P)
oh, and my best friends will soon be the books.
rachel, u better stop thinking abt him. totally not worth being distracted abt pray girl, pray more:) cast all ure cares on HIM. i'm sure He'll make it right. Jesus, be my centre
hey all:) i know my blog's pretty dead, sch's starting tmr. and, arggh, o's are coming. chinese in 5 months. that only hit me yesterday.
spent new year's eve with family n friends:) rollerblading with me bro and my mum n dad on bikes at east coast. covered the path from lagoon view to parkway and back + the stretch from lagoon view to bedok jetty.
went countdown at ashley's house. then was running around the whole new year's day.
oh, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
japan trip in dec was very very fun. too much details, time consuming to type out everything in detail. wanna know more abt it? ring me up or sth. (lol. sounds like an ad leh...)
my dear mum put me on a maths tuition just 'cause i'm nt getting an A. need practice anyway but means more hw to be done. oh well...
guides camp was fun:D camped for 5 days in total. we had star gazing on the first night. boy the stars were pretty but i couldn't find the stuff they were talking abt like the north star, the orion etc. the bonding was good:) the GM guides were real nice. made quite a few friends:D most of the things about the camp were fun except the food part where we had to finish the food we cook and the KC guides in my patrol won't eat a lot. so i gained weight on my side along with the GM guides. showering was probably the most enjoyable part:D the whole patrol went into a showering tent and they jetted us with water. the bad part is that the shampoo wasn't washed off properly. oh well... thats camp:D
baptism on the 18th:D welcome to the family crys, beatrice, victoria & benedict!!!
went shoppping with avina n meryl on 20th. avina bought tons of stuff just for her job attatchment n meryl bought a top, n i bought nothing.hehe...
carolling prac on sun:D was really fun. the sight reading chords on guitar was defenitely good practice. haven't really touched the guitar in a while, my callous is peeling:'(. must it peel when i need it most? and boy i gotta start growing nails on my right hand fingers or else the plucking won't be really audiable. after that went to dione's house for the first time (ironically, i've known her for 2 yrs) to teach her some of the christmas carols, with karen on the violin. had a good time with them:)
spent the whole mon afternoon doing chord vetting. only when i heard the tracks, i realized the christmas carols are not that easy at all. eg, hark the herald angels sing is CHIM! ( but fun:D) change chords every beat at a few sections for it to sound nice.O_o
spent whole of yesterday finishing my bio hw, except for the project, like finally!! still got loads though... :(
woohoo!! back again finally!! loads had been happening for the past few months.. i shall generally generalize.
preparation of the ireland camp continues. went shopping for the craft items on the 28th june that was to be sold to the people there. bought henna, bangles, bindis, paper balls, five stones, chaptehs. i'm a lil better in the dance we're supposed to do. we, unfortunately, have to survive 13 days in ireland with the stuff we brought in HAVERSACKS. yes, no trolley bags.
left on the 5th jul with some of my company's guides sending the 5 of us guides from my school off. my dear seniors are as crazy as ever :D the 10 hour flight was tiring with an additional 2 hours of local flight. ireland is PRETTY!!! it was also super cold: 10-13 deg in the day, sunny; 5-8 deg at night and when it is raining(which was most of the time). visited navan town before the camp and stayed overnight at millrace lodge, a lovely place.
went to tatterstalls for the camp. i've never seend such a huge field in my life!abt 4 hec? was in camp asgard, subcamp midguard. 1st day was a lil weird 'cause there are caucasions everywhere and we were the only few asians. the irish guides were really nice and made quite a few friends. as i was talking to several of the irish guides, there were the lil misconceptions/ stereotypes abt Singapore and us as representitives of GGS. some were pretty amusing too. 1)Singapore had the four seasons 2)Singapore is in China! (hahahahahaha) 3)Our hair is not real. they are wigs. with that clarified, the camp was quite fun. had a go with african percussion, bounce world, trips to trim castle etc around meath co. and dublin, campfires. the international night performance didn't turn out as bad as i expected. at least i managed to remember all the dance steps by then. i couldn't believe that they loved it! the bad thing is that there was no bathing facilities in the camp site and we had to go to some swimming centre to bathe there. futhermore, it was only 2 times in 7 days! too cold to sweat i guess that's their reason. anyway, i dunno why, but i instinctively picked up a bit of their accent. when the camp ended, it was pretty sad:( got the contacts of most of the guides anyway:)
stayed in dublin for one day and a night. shopped quite a bit of stuff. boy i'll miss the food there. went to london for 3 days 2 nights. went to 2 museums, buckingham palace where we saw the changing of guards, oxford street, camden town(goth place), tower of london where we saw the crown jewels(*bling*) sadly, no cameras allowed. then another 10 hr flight back to S'pore. slept for the first 4 hrs and forced myself to keep awake by eating the 75%cocoa dark chocolateand watching 4 movies to prevent jet lag 'cause i gotta go to school the next day. attempt sucessful:)
after going there, i can appreciate what we have in s'pore 'cause u can take a hot bath and not coming out of the bathroom shivering like crazy. u also dun need to get back to your home before sundown and keep buying bottled water and have budget food (macs cost 15 bucks for a quater pounder and a small coke).
NDP training is fun, crazy as it may seem. the back area of the contingent was deemed the noisy group. me being the left marker was fun. i nearly slept during one of the NE shows. oh, and the NE shows were funny! when the 1st of the 21 gun salute was shot, i could hear screams from the audience. every subsequent shot was followed by high pitched screams from the audience. the rest of the CRs were ok, the audience always laughed when the arrival of the ministers was simulated. yes, one guy just came out with a playcard that wrote 'MP' and things like that. me family got tickets to watch one of the CRs :)
climbed gulong lambak with the guides in my company:) 70 degree gradient was fun:)climbed to one of the peaks at 510m above sea level. i dun mind going again:)
wasn't there at east division competition day 'cause of NDP. but, with God's grace, we won bronze in poster, silver in mini stucture and gold in song writing:) didn't see the gold coming as the lyrics there were just random stanzas of rhyming words i wrote about the theme which was fantasy. ching probably worked the music out :) good work done by the other teams too:D
sep's full of birthdays, including mine:) celebrated with my family at sushi tei. got my birthday presents:D yougurt, my fav binging partner(good idea!) from my bro; hoop earrings from meryl and a cake from my small group.
my piano exam was also in sep. the examinger was a lady and i was real nervous then. but when i went into the room, i suddenly became quite calm (thanks God:D) my pieces and scaleswere ok, but she gave me the more difficult sight reading so that was crap. but on me dad's birthday, the results was in. he opened it as i couldn't bear to see...only to discover a few seconds later that i got distinction!!! praise ye the Lord:D got full marks for my jazz piece(surprise, surprise)
sep also means start of EOY. that sucks. stay home muggin most of the time.by oct, was very sian already. but when it ended it was worth it:) will only have a short break and sturctured lessons will start at he end of oct. end of EOYs means results too. have done reasonably well. some improvement and deprovement. top for chem and bio in the level:D really thank God for this set of results.here it is: eng-A2 chinese-C5 e math-A1 a math- C5:P c humans- C5 lit-B4 bio, chem, phy- A1 thats not the end though... still got 'o's. arggh 'o's! boy i'm starting to feel old now.
went ice skating with some of my school friends after eng oral. andrea and avina knows how to skate now *claps* we'll go some other time again with more people i guess.
guides camp is coming up and i'm in camp comm. the gmss guides are camping with us this year. i hope it will be fun. the whole thing's planned and we just need to carry it out. its sad we're not making the entire playground this year. we'll be doing swings
power encounter was great. most of us were touched by God:) the bonding was great too. ashley and i found out that both of us had good synergy in guitar. we should play together one day again no? sharing my testimony was crappy. all the 25 + pairs of eyes were staring at me which was the stimulus for my nervous reflex(or so i called it). couldn't concentrate on what i was saying. arggh... should have taken off my glasses so i only see blurry faces. class presentaion can just because not even half the class is really paying attention, 20 pairs of eyes is my limit. playing keyboard for ministry was ok, except i tend to go by memory and there is not enough time to discard some chord progessions of the previous song and mistakes come in. u have a long way to go rachel.
9-11 june: church camp! yes, it was good :) the sermon is quite relevant but the bonding was the best:) managed to strenghten relationships with the gen acts girls. well, a lot happened in just 4 days.
day one: a long drive up with my parents, me grandma and uncle robert and auntie emily. when we reached putrajaya, went to the shopping centre alamanda for lunch. went a for a lil bit of shoppping but there wasn't much. bought a new top from there though. marriot hotel is sooo grand!! checked in and dumped my stuff into the room. eliz and i were rooming beside karen and yiru. went down for dinner and boy were the food good. then went down to the room for the youth to practice keyboard for the later session. history makers was ok in the end. didn't know that we could do it. our session ende really late and i slept at abt 12.
day 2: met meryl in the morning then had breakfast. then we had the egg drop competition. all the eggs didn't crack:) then it was session 2 which was the most relevant one to me:) after lunch we were supposed to do first aid but most of the youths went shopping or went missing. it eventually got postponed :( went to karen's room to play uno cards with the rest of the girls, then jaccuzi and suana and then to the swimming pool with ashley, eliz, leanne, karen, sheena and dione. then went to wash up and go for dinner. then went to the room assigned to the youth to practice keyboard for session 3. after session 3 we had the girls nite where we went to karen's room where anna talked to us abt eyebrows and even did demonstration. i felt that it was a bit redundant. slept just as late.
day 3: play keyboard again for session 4 in the morn. then had CK during session 5. the kids were abnormally high somehow that time but we still managed to have our program done :) we prepared for the talent time with the remaining time that was left. the stuff we plan was so crappy. it was the story of david and goliah, the singapore version. jeremy(david) was funny when he did the 'victory dance' after defeating jason(goliah). then the youths went for the jabalng game where i was in the blue team. was really fun:) then washed up and had dinner. session 6 was in the main hall. and there i was touched by the Lord again. crystal received the gift of tongues that night. congrats girl!!! :D
day 4: last session after breakfast was good :) then said bye bye to the 5 star hotel service and went back to singapore.
12 june met up with some of the guides who are going to go to ireland for the international guides camp for the item we have to perform for the campfire night. i seriously can't dance. oh well, practice :(
13 june rest day!! finished my bio:)
14 june did more hw and had piano lesson. wanted to go out but can't.
15 june met meryl mabel and doraline to go to my house for lil 'cell'. was good :)
16 june NDP @marina bay. i am seriously going to be deaf when ndp finishes. the 21 gun salute is killing my ears. everytime they do one, most of the people jumps.
17 june HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!! bought pie for me dad and my mum cooked crab for dinner. yummy!
18 june ss project today. payal, grace and vania came to my house to do it. managed to finish it :) we had a fun time too:) after piano lesson went shopping and managed to buy a swimming costume that is youthful enough and nt too matured.
today met up with avina and grace to do holiday hw. we managed to cover english, geog, and chemistry.
I'm staring out into the night,
Trying to hide the pain.
I'm going to the place where love
And feeling good don't ever cost a thing.
And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain.
Well I'm going home,
Back to the place where I belong,
And where your love has always been enough for me.
I'm not running from.
No, I think you got me all wrong.
I don't regret this life I chose for me.
But these places and these faces are getting old,
So I'm going home.
Well I'm going home.
The miles are getting longer, it seems,
The closer I get to you.
I've not always been the best man or friend for you.
But your love, it makes true.
And I don't know why.
You always seem to give me another try.
Be careful what you wish for,
'Cause you just might get it all.
You just might get it all,
And then some you don't want.
Be careful what you wish for,
'Cause you just might get it all.
You just might get it all, yeah.
* bible verse of the week *
Hebrews 12:11
No discipline seems pleasent at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
